The standard method used to join lengths of spiral tube is with male couplers. However these Verroloc jointing flanges are sometimes used to aid in installation and/or to provide a means by which duct lengths may be relatively easily removed for maintenance and cleaning purposes. Each flange joint consists of two flange rings, which are fixed with screws or rivets into the tube ends that are to be joined, and a closure ring. Once in position, the closure ring is installed over both flanges. Note that gasket tape is required between the flanges.
In our experience the advantages lay more in the ability to remove and replace the duct easily rather than making the installation easier. Larger ducts installed at high level will certainly benefit from the use of jointing flanges, but unless there is a requirement that the duct be periodically removed male couplers can be used.
